Frequently Asked Questions - This page will tell you everything you could ever want to know about Crunchy Slug! Maybe. Okay, probably not.

Q: Who are you?
I'm the host of this crazy little space on the cyberweb, C.S. Allin.

Q: So what is Crunchy Slug?
Crunchy Slug is a 90's and early 2000's nostalgia site where I chronicle the past, review retro games, and release ridiculously niche software for or relating to old computers. Its design is heavily inspired by an old website called ToastyFrog that orignally ran from 1995 to 2000(although after its death it was quickly rebooted and continued on for many years in various forms).

Q: Wait, what's ToastyFrog?
ToastyFrog was a site that covered video games, anime, and occasionally movies. Which put it at the trendy, cutting edge of internet culture at the time. And it was so well designed you could easily mistake it for a commercial site run by a whole staff of people(think IGN), but it was actually created by a lone dude named Jeremy Parish. Incidentally, he's still kicking and creating stuff on Patreon. Writing books, too.

Q: Okay, but why'd it inspire you?
Kid me thought ToastyFrog was the coolest website ever when I discovered it in the late 90's, and I thought, "Wow! I wanna make something like this some day!". It was just a childish whim but it always stuck with me, and over two decades later I'm finally making it happen. This is the strangest mid-life crisis ever.

Q: Aren't you just ripping off ToastyFrog because you suck at web design and need something good to steal from?
I have no idea where you even got such a ludicrous idea. Next question.

Q: How often will you update Crunchy Slug?
Crunchy Slug gets updated whenever I can think of an article to write or software to make. I originally planned on updating it every month but it was consuming my entire life and that wasn't sustainable, especially considering nobody even knows this website exists, and let's be honest here, it's just me talking to myself because I've lost my mind.

Q: What's the GIA Newsfeed?
I'm obsessed with keeping the past alive so I decided to create a feed of old video game news from The Gaming Intelligence Agency, another one of my favorite childhood websites.

And thus news between November 22nd 1998 and December 28th 2000 is posted in chronological order, every day, on the front page of Crunchy Slug. This will take 511 days of real time to complete. Then it'll loop back to '98 and start all over again. What fun!

Q: Why are you asking for donations?
I have no real source of income and was hoping to maybe make some kind of meager living with Crunchy Slug but it's just not meant to be. However, if you think my writing or weird software is worth something you can donate to my Ko-fi, which would be very much appreciated. I aspire to one day earn $1.

Q: You haven't updated Crunchy Slug in a long time. Is this site dead?
No! Crunchy Slug will never die. The next update might be a 6 months from now, or a year, or maybe even 10 years, but this insane, silly, pointless thing will exist for as long as I do. Running a website with zero visitors is my hobby and only grim death can pry it from me.
