Deceptive Polity

โ˜€๏ธ ๐ŸŒ’

The whole field of politics is considered as malicious by the public. Politicians are considered as con men and the bureaucrats are not seen as any better either. If u keep up with politics, you can easily tell that our representatives don't really care about us. They just pretend to. Rarely is an action done for the greater good. Largely these actions are done to further their own agenda.

Let's assume for the sake of it that this is fine. They are politicians afterall. Even though they shouldn't, This is what they do. But what I can't accept is deceit. If you are doing something. Then say that you are doing it. Don't hide it under euphemisms and buzz words. I'll discuss 3 such cases.

Girls' Freeship

The first case which I'd like to talk about is Girls' freeship.
Freeship is an agreement that you don't have to pay fees in an institution. Sounds pretty cool right? Well, there has to be some justification for providing a freeship. If not, then why can't everyone get one? In India we have freeships. They come in a variety of forms for a variety of institutions. But I have a problem with girl's freeship. Do you know what it might be? It is the fact that the ONLY criteria for qualifying for this freeship is that you're a girl! To put it in other words. 50% of the population can study for free. Granted this is only applicable for 11th and 12th but it is still a big deal. How many times have you heard this? Do you see this being talked about in the news? People cry about reservations but I've never heard anyone speak about this. How would they even know?

If you go for admissions, there is a small section of the page which will have a small notice. It's not even that noticable and most people would just brush it off. You may say that girls' education is hindered by a lack of money. But that is not true for every girl! Then why allow every girl to avail this facility? There should be some criteria. Like family income < โ‚น8,00,000 or if you wanna be harsh, the family should be below the poverty line. This is because most of the aided (good) colleges are already subsidized and have meanial fees. A freeship in this scenario becomes ridiculous (Like in the above image). You may say that noone who has the money will misuse this freeship, but my experience would say otherwise.

Direct benefit transfers

Second case I'd say is subsidies itself.
Especially the NEW kind. Direct benefit transfer (DBT).
The idea seems pretty great. The government is to serve the people afterall. So bureaucracy shouldn't come in the middle. Hence they directly transfer the benefits to you. Sounds very nice right? Well, what most of these schemes really are is a way to get free money. Because what they mean by benefits is just free money. There is a criteria you need to pass (be poor) and you get free money! They literally just transfer money to your account!
I have to clarify some people would think this is a good idea. But not me. This is socialism taken too far. If you want to convince me to think otherwise. Tell them to send me money too ๐Ÿ˜‰

Mainstream issue: Inflation

Third case I'd say is about inflation.
There is inflation. People don't like it. Heck, even I don't like it. They now only give 5 bourbons in a โ‚น10 pack whereas before I used to get 6. That's a whole bourbon lost to inflation. Everyone has been screaming at the government on this issue. What is their response? "We've kept the inflation lower than other countries" Yeah good, but that was not what we asked! What are you doing to stop the inflation? Not much. This is just whataboutery being used. Which is basically:
"Hey what about them? We're better than them atleast!"
We want you to take steps to reduce inflation. You are the guys who control it. We want you to make it less. We want you to make it as less as possible. But since they don't have an answer to our questions, or they don't want to decrease inflation, they deceive the public. Who cares how much is the inflation in america or germany? I care about my country and my people. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

Conclusion

There are many such cases. Too many to discuss. (It's like a thing they do everyday)
They build up illusions and faรงades to hide the truth. They deceive the public.
They let girls study for free but boys have to pay. This is ofcourse gender inequality but they don't want to say that. They found out the cheapest way to help the poor is to just give them money. But they don't wanna publicize that. They don't/can't control the inflation. But they don't wanna say that. So they dodge the question.

Why do they do this? Well I've got two theories:

  1. There are 2 type of people: Smart ones and Dumb ones. The smart ones know that the politicians are BS but can't do much because they are in fewer numbers. The dumb ones actually believe what the government says and hence the politicians only put in enough effort to convince them.
  2. My second theory is there is just one group of people. Everyone knows that the government is BS but thinks everyone else thinks otherwise. Hence to fit with the status quo they act dumb.
  3. Or the third scenario which is I'm dumb and the government is playing 4D chess.

In all situations, the politicians benefit. They use their sweet tongues to get the public's support. The only problem is we don't get much for it.

This is the reason why, I condemn such deception. Do not get carried away by what they say. DYOR. I also condemn these 3 cases. I believe all those who are capable should pay fess. People shouldn't be given free money as a way to help them. They should be taught how to earn it. And lastly I want my 6th bourbon biscuit back.
